Four puppets, holding in hands a puzzle of multi colorYesPilates.com and Forums.PilatesConnections.com Join Forces

April 8th, 2009 - YesPilates.com co-founder, Jeanne M. Cummings, is proud to announce it’s joining forces with the Pilates Connections Discussion Board.  “Tom Floyd has done an amazing job at building a successful and helpful forum for the Pilates industry,” says Jeanne.  “Both of us share a common vision for the Pilates world, which is a growing industry.  Our intention is to help steer the industry to quality instruction and the best resources as new products and training emerge, whether it be for teachers or students.”

Tom Floyd opened his studio, Pilates Connections, in 2002 in Austin, first working out of his home studio then sharing space with a Martial Arts school, and finally in July 2004 establishing his own commercial studio.  However, he had already started the now popular forums long before he was a Pilates studio owner.  “I started the forums on the discussion board at the beginning of my certification studies in 2001, initially for the purpose of reinforcing my own learning.  In recent years, the growth has been exponential, and thanks to the tireless efforts of our team of moderators and board participants, the Pilates Connections Discussion Board has become one of the most highly ranked Pilates web sites in terms of traffic and usage.”

YesPilates.com was successfully launched July 17th, 2008.  “I was relatively new to teaching Pilates when the opportunity knocked to start YesPilates.com, having only taught for a couple years’, stated Jeanne.  ‘I consider myself a newbie to the industry, compared to those who I admire and have been around for ten, twenty, and thirty plus years.  When I first started teaching Pilates, I quickly discovered I was not the only one frustrated by the confusion surrounding all the information as where to study and with whom.  Not to mention a studio on one block had a different teaching style and different apparatus’ from the studio on the next block”.

Both Tom and Jeanne have had successful careers in other industries before finding their calling to Pilates.  Prior to beginning his Pilates career, Tom worked for many years as a programmer for the State of Texas. Tom holds a B.A. degree in Communications, as well as an M.A. in English.  Jeanne graduated with a Business Administration degree in Canada and went on to work in the mutual fund industry before making her way to selling an environmentally friendly product in the oil and gas servicing market.
